Privacy Policy
Last updated: June 25, 2026
ListenLeaf is designed to be local-first. Your books, imported documents, highlights, notes, and legal review materials are stored on your device unless you choose to use an Apple or cloud feature that moves data outside the device.
Information We Collect
ListenLeaf may store the following information on your device so the app can function:
- Books and documents you import.
- Reading position, playback progress, bookmarks, highlights, tags, notes, pronunciation dictionary entries, and reader settings.
- Legal review materials such as matters, document metadata, issue tags, citation-format flags, dictated notes, review logs, and exported work product.
- App preferences, subscription entitlement status, and feature settings.
Optional Permissions
ListenLeaf may request optional access to system features only when needed:
- Files and iCloud Drive: to import books and documents you select.
- Microphone: to support ambient-noise adaptation or dictated legal notes, if enabled.
- Speech Recognition: to convert dictated notes to text, if you choose to use dictation.
- Motion and activity: to support optional context-aware reading settings, if enabled.
- Siri, Watch, CarPlay, and media controls: to support hands-free playback and device continuity.
Cloud, Sync, and AI Features
Core reading and legal review are intended to work locally. If you enable iCloud, system document providers, cloud AI, or future cloud sync features, the selected data may be processed by Apple or the provider you choose. Legal AI features are local-first by default where available and should require explicit consent before sending legal document content to a cloud provider.
Subscriptions and Purchases
Subscriptions and purchases are handled through Apple StoreKit. ListenLeaf receives subscription entitlement information from Apple but does not receive your full payment card details.
Diagnostics
ListenLeaf may keep local diagnostic information to help troubleshoot crashes, import failures, playback issues, or CarPlay behavior. Diagnostic logging is designed to avoid storing document text or legal matter details in release builds. If optional diagnostics or feedback are enabled, only the information you choose to provide should be sent for support.
Legal Review Privacy
ListenLeaf Legal may involve confidential, privileged, or sensitive documents. You are responsible for deciding whether a document is appropriate to import, sync, export, or process with any optional cloud service. The app’s legal review tools are productivity aids and do not replace attorney judgment.
Data Retention and Deletion
You can delete imported books, documents, annotations, legal review materials, and app data from within the app or through iOS storage controls. Deleting the app removes locally stored app data from the device, subject to Apple’s normal iOS behavior and any external copies you created through exports, backups, iCloud, or document providers.
Children’s Privacy
ListenLeaf is not directed to children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13.
